Story: The Wise Tortoise and the Chatty Parrot

In a lush jungle, there lived a wise old tortoise named Tessa and a chatty parrot named Polly. Tessa was known for her patience and wisdom, while Polly was famous for never stopping talking.

One sunny day, as Tessa was sunbathing near a serene pond, Polly perched on a nearby branch and started to chatter away. Polly talked about the weather, the other jungle creatures, and even shared some gossip.

Tessa, being a wise old tortoise, preferred to listen and observe. She believed that there was much to learn from silence and observation.

One afternoon, a group of animals in the forest heard of a big storm. They did not know what to do in this panic. Polly, as usual, began offering a hundred different suggestions, none of which seemed practical.

Tessa, who had been quietly observing the changing winds and skies, spoke up calmly. She advised the animals to find shelter in the sturdy, deep-rooted trees and to wait out the storm.

The animals followed Tessa's advice, while Polly continued to chatter nervously. When the storm hit, the animals in the trees remained safe and unharmed, while Polly, who had not heeded Tessa's wisdom, found herself caught in the gusty winds.

After the storm had passed, Polly flew down to Tessa with a humbled expression. She admitted that Tessa's wisdom had saved her from a dangerous situation. Polly realized that sometimes, listening and observing could be more valuable than talking incessantly.

From that day on, Polly became a better listener and learned to value Tessa's wise words.

The moral of the story:

Listening and observing can lead to valuable insights and wisdom. Sometimes, speaking less and paying more attention to others can be the wisest choice of all.
